Since April 1995
The Motley Focus (including its literary magazine, AfterNoon), was one of the Internet's first e-zines. We stopped updating it in late 2003 . Wonderful poems, art and short stories are available here. In it's heyday the Motley recieved hundreds of thousands of hits. The layout is now way behind the the curve, but when the Motley first appeared, it wasn't that different in appearence than the New Yorker and other mainstream magazines who were slow to get on the Internet.. It was almost entirely hand coded on a Mac by William Timberman. The front page has been redone in an aging version of Dreamweaver.News Groups of the day were a mess. The Open Committes of Correspondence were an early attempt at blogs with out modern software which make them convienent. |
