Frisbee Golfer

When the disc
strikes the chains
dangling like tentacles
over the wire basket,
it hangs in mid-air
then slowly falls
as if underwater.

 Though the next fairway
is wide as an airstrip,
if you hook your toss
the bordering trees
may steal your saucer.
Some won't let go--
they can catch
but not throw.

       Still, you pose
a bigger obstacle
with your need
to prove yourself
better than you are,
furious
with anything
over par.
